SWU Summer International Program (SSIP)
ABOUT SSIP
This summer program is designed for students who are interested in Japan but have not yet studied Japanese. Students will study Japanese culture, history, and society through a variety of lectures conducted in English and on field trips to historic sites and museums.Students will also experience collaborative research, discussions, and presentations with SWU students in Cross-Cultural Workshops.
The program consists of 2 courses: Japanese Studies and Cross-Cultural Workshop.
Both courses are worth credits, and a certificate will be issued upon completion of the program.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Female undergraduate or graduate university students whose nominated by their home university.
- Must be able to make travel arrangements and arrive in Japan by the designated date.
- Must be willing to commit and contribute to the program by actively interacting with both international students and Japanese students through lectures, activities, and group projects.
- Must have enough English proficiency to engage in discussions and presentation. *No knowledge of the Japanese required!
APPLICATION
STEP 1 Nomination via University Office
Nomination Deadline: February 20th, 2024 (JST)-Applicants must be currently enrolled in one of SWU’s partner universities and be nominated by their home university.
-Please get in touch with the study abroad office at your home university regarding the nomination process.
STEP 2 Student Application
Application Deadline: March 6th, 2024 (JST)-Carefully read through the "Pledge Form" sign it, and prepare a scanned form in PDF or jpeg format.
-Prepare a scanned copy of your passport in PDF or jpeg format.
-Input all necessary information, upload documents and complete the Online Application Form by the deadline.
*For students who cannot access the online application form (Google Form), please fill in the "PDF Application Form"and send it to ssipstaff@swu.ac.jp along with a passport copy and signed pledge form.
COVID-19 RELATED INFORMATION
To smoothly and safely deliver the program, participants are asked to do the following before arrival:1) Check the latest border measures/entry regulations in Japan
